Hey girl,
for this being your first book, I think you did great.
I love it!
When I need encouragment, I flip through some pages, and just read.
Bless you for sharing your gift.
I can't wait to read book #2.
Have you considered writing a novel or a self-help book?
Shametra- When I spoke to you last time we talked about how you wanted feedback on your book. It has been on my mind because you have done so much to help me without me even asking so I knew I had to take time to tell you my thoughts and give you the feedback you have requested.
First, I definitely agree with the anonymous response. For your first book you did well not to mention publishing it yourself. I feel a lot of people do not realize how publishing your own work is an option but it is also hard work.
Secondly, I love the book. I usually don't read a lot of poetry because I find it difficult to understand the point of view but this is not my experience with your poetry. When I read your words, it felt more like short stories or thoughts I could relate to very well. It was a nice surprise. All of the poems had special meaning but my two favorite are "True Friend" and "The Joy of Love".
I can't wait to see what you publish next but you definitely need to keep going. I'm in your corner...

Hey Shametra,
sorry for the tardiness, been working on my new CD. However you are a great writer, when I read your work, I felt that I was actually talking to you. Your poetry is very personable. Where do you come up with that stuff? Creativity definitely relishes in your soul.. I am so amazed..
Keep doing your thang..
peace sista,
Shametra starts our journey off by reaffirming her love for God, family and music right in the Thank Yous. Set up like a CD cover, she grabs everyone on her trail and holds them up. Asking anyone “forgotten” to “charge it to my head and not my heart.” Blatant evidence this entire project pours from her soul. As I read on, I see my assessment is dead on. She lets us in to a degree that is so base, so naked, that you can’t help but keep reading. I made a post about this collection of emotions a while back on Facebook and accidentally typed Confessions in lieu of Chronicles. I call these Freudian Typos. It seems the feeling I got reading this book crept into my typing. Her Chronicles feel like my Confessions at points and Reflections at others. I read this book in one sitting. I have yet to pick a favorite and I still have about seven marked with post-it notes. I’m no poetry connoisseur, but I love that as a reader, you get to experience this authoress’ emotional and literary growth alongside her. I wait (im)patiently for the next installment of her particular brand of chronicling.
