And The Winner Is...
On Tuesday I experienced the most exceptional customer service ever! Notice that I said "I" everyone seems to have an opinion on what they experience whether is be negative or positive. I am constantly reminded every single day of God's grace and just how good he is. I can be having a bad hair day, Prince could be acting up, the light just won't turn green so that I can hurry and go. However I am forever reminded that God is still good. And the winner is!!!!!!!!!
So I walk into this business to get my vehicle serviced. Everyone is smiling and I am thinking to myself. Eh? I am just ready to go home and relax. I was on the phone with a friend of mine and handling business at the same time. Yep I multi-task! Lol...
I finally sit myself down in a seat in the waiting area, just getting into some good conversation and my service was complete. BONUS! HOMEWARD BOUND BABY! I purchased a card last year from the business that offers anything from free oil changes to discounted services. I forgot that I had this card. I had 4 extra oil changes, plus services that I had not used yet because my vehicle is pretty much caught up on service. Tick! Tick! Tick! Goes my brain... I am pondering an idea here. I decided to ask the manager if the card was transferable to other vehicles. His reply was, "Yes!" I am such a of surprising others type of person, however I don't like to be surprised with anything. If you are going to do it, please don't tell me... Lol... I decided to run a mini contest to share my blessings with someone else. At this point I am excited and overwhelmed and what better thing to do, but help someone that could use a blessing, whether they know it or not. When I was young a young child, 7 was and still is my favorite number and as I grew older I realized that there is a significance to this number. There are 7 Days of the Week, 7 Deadly Sins, 7 Continents, 7 Colors in a rainbow, 7 phases of the moon, 7 natural divisions of the brain, 7 functions of the nervous system, 7 compartments of the heart and there are 7 major body organs.
If we examine 7 from a biblical stand point. In the Hebrew, seven is shevah. It is from the root savah, to be full or satisfied, have enough of. Hence the meaning of the word "seven" is dominated by this root, for on the seventh day God rested from the work of Creation. It was full and complete, and good and perfect. Nothing could be added to it or taken from it without marring it. It is seven, therefore, that stamps with perfection and completeness that in connection with which it is used. God blessed Abraham with a seven fold of a blessing. Abraham's seven-fold blessing in Genesis 12:2, 3: -
"I will make of thee a great nation,
And I will bless thee,
And make thy name great;
And thou shalt be a blessing;
And I will bless them that bless thee,
And curse him that curseth thee:
And in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
I can go on and on and on and to be honest I think this is the longest blog that I have written since I opened this blog. I will tell you one thing my dear readers. Completion, Love, Blessed is exactly what I felt yesterday and I feel compelled to share. So with that said.
The winner of my question, which I had no clue of the title until she provided the answer. I just asked for the 7th blog title. See how God has a sense of humor... Lol
The winner is... RaeAnne! Congrats to you! You will recieve a service for your vehicle from Groovy Lube! From my ♥ to yours.

You Butta Believe It
At approximately 10:15a.m. I remember you walking down the aisle. You were radiant and by far the most beautiful bride. All of the sudden a tear fell. I looked at your soon to be Husband and the look on his face was priceless. He was standing there waiting for you. Looking all handsome, for some reason I couldn't stop crying. My friend went from handing me a kleenex to handing me the entire box. What had come over me was a joyous feeling of seeing my momma/friend go before God and take a vow that the two are now becoming one. At 11:20a.m. You were married! You two are by far one of my favorite couples. To see the love that you have for one another blesses my spirit everytime I am in your presence. You even sprinkle a dose of your love in your products. Nytesun is my favorite. You know I call that the "love potion" Happy anniversary Ellerby's! May the Lord continue to bless you with 8 more wonderful years. I love you!

An Event To Remember
When I am working an event my intention is always to satisfy the client and leave with a lasting impression that I've satisfied my obligation by fulfilling my purpose. I had no idea that I would leave grasping for air, wiping tears from my eyes and pondering an idea to make an appointment to get checked again. As I stood on my mark listening and watching the participants of this event. The testimonials tugged on my heart strings as if someone was striking a cord of a note that was unheard of. There were many that stood with the survivors, while photo's were displayed on the screens in the background of the one's that lost their battle with this disease that affects and impacts so many women. "Breast Cancer Resource Center Of Texas" held an event called, "Art Bra Austin" One of the most memorable moments of the night was the fashion show of various bras that were designed so beautifully. The models were survivors of breast cancer. I was compelled to spread the word about, "Breast Cancer Resource Center of Texas" because cancer has affected someone in my life and this event was such an eye opener. We have to continue to raise awareness about breast cancer. I believe it is possible and with your help, that will bring us much closer to finding the resolution and providing more resources. The next event that will take place is the, "Suzy's Soldiers Golf Tournament & Gala, August 10th,2012.Suzy’s Soldiers was formed by Austin resident, Kristin Osler, in loving memory of her mother, Suzanne “Momma” Clarke who lost her six-year battle to breast cancer in 2000.
Suzanne was a passionate philanthropist and Suzy’s Soldiers is following in Suzanne’s footsteps by raising money for a local organization dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and their families – Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas.
Last year’s tournament exceeded its goal and we are grateful for the invaluable support of Longhorn Health Solutions and Suzy’s Soldiers for raising funds and awareness for the services of BCRC! To register for this event go to: www.bcrc.org/events/suzys-soldiers-golf-tournament-gala
BCRC vision is : The purpose of BCRC is to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Through effective patient navigation, BCRC provides support, information and resources to all those affected by breast cancer.

An evening with Ruben Studdard
I was excited to hear that Ruben Studdard was performing in Austin, Texas on May the 7th at One World Theatre. I drive into what appeared to be a castle like venue. Opened the door and I was subdued by the most welcoming and smiling staff that was there to serve. Talk about customer service! I have to rate this spot as ten. You could have sat in row L and still experienced what everyone else was feeling. The show was very intimate. Ruben sung some of the greatest love songs and you know he sang some Luther... My, my, my... Lol. Ruben even did a new song from his new album, " Letters From Birmingham" The "Velvet Teddy Bear" had us snapping our fingers and stomping our feet while he caressed our ears with his melodic tunes. Ruben was smoother than velvet and had jokes for days, he definitely kept us smiling, especially when he begin to talk about how much he loved his Mother. I sent Ruben home with my first book and he in turn blessed me with an autographed copy of his handsome self with the following,
To: Shametra
God Bless you and thanks for the book. How did you know I love to read? Signed: Ruben Studdard.
Ruben is definitely a character... I must say he put on a mighty fine show. Thanks for visiting Austin. I had a great experience.

So I got home and my neighbors chickens were out...Yea chickens as in 5...I thought I would go and put them back in their back yard... Now there is one chick that is the HCIC. Lord have mercy , she started to move towards me and they all came. They was gangster with it too! If you was a fly on the tree.. You saw a sister juking.. Honey I grabbed the bottom of my dress and ran like Forrest... My lesson of today... I am now afraid of chickens... I didn't know that they chased you?! See trying to be nice and get chased by 5 chickens.. Smh... That ain't right!! Lol... Hope you got a laugh... I sure did... Oh man! I think I left my shoes..

Sichuan Garden
When you walk into the restaurant the greeting is a southern hospitality atmosphere served with smiles and undivided attention to details. From the time that you sit down and view the menu of delectable entrees, the customer service is excellent and the restuarant has elegant decor. My cousin and her friend and I had the best meal that was worth every penny. The best entree that deserved bragging rights was the delicious, "House Dry pot" and the appetizers were just a snack for our tastebuds to prepare for what was coming. Located at 110 N. IH 35 Suite 240 Round rock, Texas 78681 Sichuan Garden deserves praise for their delicious food and awesome customer service. Will the owner, can match his recommendations perfectly to the customers desire... Don't take my word for it. Try it out for yourself.

Something to Think About
In this thing we call life we have to learn how to be a friend. It may take us time to realize that the friend that we thought we were was not really being a friend at all. Sometimes you just don't wanna... Do ya understand what I am saying? Have you ever been on the opposite side? When you are waiting on that blessing. Your friend is continuously giving praise reports and you are still waiting in line for your blessing? Instead of being an encourager you become a discourager. You act as if their "good news" is not valid and you may even question it. You never support them and "always" have plans or something sporadically comes up, you won't call to say Congrats and as a matter of fact you are MIA during their time of shine. Do you ever wonder why you attract the type of people that you do? You are merely attracting your reflection. Doesn't make sense huh? Take a look around and see who is in your circle. See if those very people that you call a friend share the same characteristics as you... Now back to our feature presentation. Lol. So you resurface and when you do finally share in their joys you bring the spirit of "Yea I am hating and I want you to indirectly know attitude." If people are in tune, they will know in their spirit if you are there to really support them or not. If you can't bring a genuine spirit of support, keep yourself at the house. Now watch this! Your time of shine comes and that very friend is right there with you to share your joys. Your friend never took score, your friend didn't throw up in your face how you weren't there for her or him. They were just so happy for you, they shared in your victory. Today as you are going on your day. Ask yourself. What type of friend do I want to be? We may not like the way things are delivered to us in our lives and everyone has to wait in line for their blessing. Sometimes the lesson that God is wanting us to learn is patience. It is at that point when we begin to work on our patience that he delivers us that blessing. In conclusion you always you have to learn to be a friend to yourself, before you can extend a friendship to someone else and that comes from you understanding and knowing you.
Remember these things.
1. Everyone has to wait in line- It can be uncomfortable, however there is a blessing in waiting. Patience is a virtue.
2. Learn to be happy just because- There is healing in smiling and sharing in the joys of just being happy. Besides there are tons of benefits in smiling. Smiling releases Endorphins, natural pain killers and Serotonin, smiling changes your mood, and of course smiling is contagious. Have you ever been in a bad mood for whatever reason and someone smiled at you and the only thing you could do is smile back.. Lol.. Yep. You've been caught by the smiling bug.
3. Learn to be supportive- This is an art and quite frankly you will truly be blessed by surrounding yourself with other's that are optimistic. When you are supportive towards other's there is a sense of purpose that you feel by just being there for them.

We Dream - A little Poetry for you
We dream.
Not to please others, but offer fullfillment in our lives.
We dream.
Because life offers a substance called positivity.
We dream, because there was once a child that lives in us all that once said, "I want to be"
We live out our dreams because HE dreamed it first and gave us hope.
Hope to see a better tomorrow.
Hope to pray our ways through the valleys that shield us from knowing that WE can do better than we did the day before.
We dream.
We dream because, when we wake up, there is reality.
We dream.
We dream because we know that their is no fear that can be instilled in us that keeps us from trying..
We dream.
To live a life better that we did before.. To raise the bar and open the doors. To new beginnings and challenging things.
This is the reason that we dream..
We dream because life offers so many opportunities.
We dream because the effects of education becomes a mind that is filled with triggers that can be shot to share knowledge with the world.
In return this knowledge can build a better community..
In return this knowledge can bond our families.
In return this knowledge can help us raise our children.
We dream.. We dream.
Because when we wake up, there is reality to make our dreams.
Come true.
The dream started with him, now it continues with you.

Operation Holiday
When you think about the Holidays, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Family, food, eating and fun.. Right? I was coming from class yesterday and felt the strong urge to redirect my emotions back to my happy place. When I saw a homeless person cross the street.. There it goes again.. God tugged at my heart strings and prompted me to move, this time I hd no direction...This urgency was pondering in my mind while I was in transition. I then had to stop at a red-light and had another encounter with another homeless person.. He asked for money and then said, "Hey ma'am do you remember me? You gave me a couple of dollars last week." I got home and the light bulb went off.. I was having a pretty crappy day.. I was so tired from class and just wanted to go home and get in my bed. . The idea was as bright as the sun waking me up in the morning without my alarm clock.
How can I be of service to someone that has no place to go for the Holidays? How can I make sure that if they have no place to go, that they are warm during the cold? The Lord blessed me with the idea of inviting someone that I do not know into my home to share Thanksgiving dinner with and/or to start a Fundraiser to collect monies to purchase blankets and/or socks to the less fortunate.. So the question is this.. Can I count you in to do one of the two ideas?
It's not about the money, the possible akward encounter of having a guest in your home that you don't know.. The blessing is in the deed.. It's a blessing just to be...

Monday Toast
I am a work in progress, I know it can be done.
Often times we have encounters with individuals. Where we have no clue why they are in our lives and we often question what they are here for. (Can we just keep it real- I know I am not the only person that has posed this question. Right?) So we go on with our lives in hopes of everything being peaceful, because we think that life is just all peachy and stuff. Lol.. Yea right! So we keep on trucking. I believe we encounter 2 types of people in our lives, "haters" and "lovers" we most certainly know the difference between the two don't we? I feel that God offers us challenges in our lives. I call them "test" It builds character, because without these character building sessions. How will we ever see the potential of our growth? Babies don't stay babies too long. They eventually mature and have learned all of these incredible things that will allow them to make the right decisions as they go through life. Now! I am going to make this real quick, because I am sure you have to go to work and so do I. Lol.. In your journey of life. You will encounter some individuals that are easy to love. Love them anyway. In your journey you may also encounter some that you may find difficult to love. Love them anyway. I mean, some folks have hurt you beyond your hurt, talked about you, lied on you, treated you in such a way that when you woke up the next morning. You posed the question,
"Why me?" or " What did I do to deserve this?" A good friend and I were having a conversation and she said, " Why not you" Love. Love them anyway. Love them through you hurt, love them through your pain, love them through their lies, love them through their backstabbing, backbiting, and complete ugliness. You don't have to understand it. But the fact of the matter is. There is a much bigger picture to this test. That God is about to bless you. When you take your eyes off the problem and give it minimal energy. You will find that A. You are learning to grow in the midst of adversity and B. You are becoming stronger and shielding yourself from all things that are not of God. So the next time you come in contact with a spirit of uncertainty, the next time someone wants to start some mess with you and you don't have a clue of what or why the drama has started, the next time you are called uppity because you won't engage in a "circle" that speak in ALL CAPS and talks negatively about other's, and the next time you are labeled, " she thinks she is all that!" Love them anyway. The enemy gets mighty confused when you respond oppositely. You give him less power and you are on your way to a much stronger, less stressful you.. Just know that in the beginning of your transformation, no one but your "Lovers" will be able to understand why you are making the change, that you are making. They will even question you. Love them anyway.
(these scriptures came to mind)
Corinthians 10:13 - "No temptation has taken you except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for you to be able to endure it."
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13

The morning after

Breakfast is a great way to start your morning. My first encounter was on a lovely Tuesday morning. The weather was just right. The walk was not to far, I parked my car, and did the Cha-Cha all the way to the door. As busy as downtown was the commute was about 10 minutes. This was my first encounter. So after an eventful Saturday of wine pouring and meeting and greeting and 5 hours on the part-time job. I decided to treat myself to breakfast. Before all the homework and word jumbling thought of writing a 400 word essay for one of my classes. This time the ambiance had transitioned from calm to busy. The "Pecan Street Festival" was in town. Parking was a task. However the reward was worth the 5 minute walk and of course I ordered the grits again. What I remembered from Tuesday was the sweet melody my taste buds played when I indulged in my first spoonful. I knew that I would return. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the company of yourself, while closing you eyes and savoring the taste of straight up goodness. As I am writing this. I was politely interrupted. (Plug) A lady is standing in the center of the restaurant asked, "what is that smell?" I thought she was talking about the food, as she walked past me, she said, "It's you!!! Well I think." This perfect stranger, leaned to smell me. She was all in my hair and stuff. Lol..(awkward) she leaned toward my body and said," oh my God! I had been here for 20 minutes and I was trying to pick up on who or what that was. What do you have on?" I replied, "Nytesun" by :African Visions, you butta believe it." She didn't quite understand that last statement, however she will when she goes to look up the product for purchase online. The second interruption you know I didn't mind. It was the presence of a beautiful angel. She appeared to be one years of age and she wanted to hug me. Since this is one of my free gifts to the world. I reached out and hugged her. Anyone that knows me knows that I heart children. Life is so enjoyable when you encounter such blessings in your life whether they are yours or you can send them home. Lol.... Breakfast at "Carrobs Cafee" was such a treat, I will say. You MUST try the "Caribbean tea" The family owned business opened on July 1, 2010 by Robert and Carol Barnes. I plan to come again for lunch in the very near future. Taste and see that the Lord is good.. MMMM.. As I begin to conclude this short story. The official announcement was made yesterday that I am the newest member of the team to "Ujima Magazine" Yay me! Yep! God is still in the blessing business. Since this is my "first" congratulatory story. I decided to share this with you, plug a couple of businesses and in all giving God the glory. I will leave you with this, " If you have a talent, allow yourself to nurture it during the Winter time, drop off the dead leaves during the Fall, plant your seed in the Spring and by Summer you will have enough sun to watch it grow. " During this process seasons come and go, however there is always a season to give praise.

"Rehab"
How many times have you experienced not so Christlike behavior? Whether it be with you or someone that you know. Yea, yea, yea. We all go through things in life. But God happens! So instead of the issue being dealt with. You recieve a passive-agressive response that, " A church is a place for the sick" I concur 50% with this response. However, the reality is this.. Follow me please..... When one enters a place of rehabilitation. They either transition or become restored in such a fashion that they are able to be released, if they are released it usually means they are being restored.. So the moral of the story is this. We are not perfect! I know this! You owe it to yourself to be blessed beyond what you can see. If you don't recognize your worth who will? Therefore if any man in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things are passed away; behold, all things are becoming new (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Question: When you walk into his house. You are searching for something. Why leave without an answer? Why come in the house if you are going to leave the same way? It's a waste of time and time is of the essence..
There comes a time when you have to stop blaming others for your downfall and begin to look at yourself. The greatest assessment that you could ever make is the self assessment..Get better, learn more, and begin to love the new you

Beyond Expectation
It was a beautiful day. I attended service, hung out with a great friend after service.. The day seemed like it would never end.
I hung out with some friends at a fishing pond. As you know, at times, when there are new encounters with individuals. There may be two things that can occur, a inviting greeting for conversation or a skeptical hello of, hmm let me check her/him out first.. How do we get past this?
Does this signify that our uniqueness renders us of being totally incapable if reaching what is beyond our expectations.
What is expected of us?
Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
My spirit was not troubled, however there was something that did not sit well, with an encounter I had with someone that was new to me. I instantly checked "me" out and said to myself, "girl what's up" Sometimes, when we think we have issues with others, it's not them. It's us. However you need to be mature enough to identify this. It doesn't mean you are weak, and it doesn't mean that you are acknowledging out loud that you have issues. God knows we all have been delivered from some places and we know that only the father could have taken us from here to there.
Are we there yet?
Somehow I managed to whip my fishing line so far that it got caught on my bestfriend's sister's chair. The individual in which I had encountered came over to me, timid yet, the spirit of the willing was present. She said, " sister let me help you." I was amazed, because I said to myself, " father help me with this doubt in my mind" Can you please fix it? You could still tell that our spirits were not at a place of total relaxation. So, I remembered that God is not going to put anything in my path, that he will not allow me to learn from.. Fear.
Part of growing as a christian is to be able to adjust to the moments, that don't quite feel good. Character building skills. Yes sir!
I begin to quote this scripture while we untangle the fish line from the chair, I said, my sister, the bible says, " "For where two or three have gathered" and I said, finish it sister, and she replied, "together in My name, I am there in their midst" (Matthew 18:20)
At that moment, that feeling of uncertainty, that feeling of doubt. Ceased. In Jesus name we touched and agreed..Thus creating an environment of peace.
We can get there, if we all try.
It was at that point where God revealed to me again, that the power is in the word.
If we carry the spirit of fear and defeat in our minds. It will only hold us captive of progressing in the direction in which God wants us to go.
Be mindful of your actions, they begin with thoughts..
"The Announcement"
Well, well, well..
Finally had the opportunity to sit down somewhere and write about my experience from 4/11/10.
Some asked what is the announcement? What are you announcing? Let me take you on a little journey here.. I started writing when I was 10 years of age. Though years passed by, all I had was a notebook of poems, emails to family and friends, more poems written throughout the years, then there finally came "Chronicles Of A Mended Heart" since the book has been out. I have managed to keep myself way under the radar..Only reading at church, and doing book signings.. Why? You may ask.. I am a bit of a skeptic, when it comes to microphones, crowds of people and them looking at me, to see what I am going to say next.. Seriously! As perky and Pippy long stocking'ish, and at times serious that my character or presence may read.. To put me in the front of it all and have me being the presenter, makes me feel like the young lady in that movie, "Coyote Ugly" Lol.. I'm serious! I get chills, I may try to crack a joke to laugh a little, because laughing for me, eases my spirit. Lol.. Lol.. And last but not least, in my opinion people say that they don't judge you. Yea right! I would be totally not human and acting so oblivious to that fact. I'm going to keep it real with you... They do..Judging causes people to purchase a CD, a DVD, a new car. It's natural. However it can also be negative. I didn't want to allow anyone to have the opportunity to do that. So I managed to keep that part of my words and heart stored away, until I was able to put my best foot forward and not care about the opinions of others.
What the announcement represented was me as an author, poet, songwriter, a speaker.. Though I do other things, I actually let the world in.. I really let them into my thoughts, my heart, and I presented a voice for them to hear. So after 1 year & 4 months later, I finally introduced, "Authoress Shametra McGregor"
Some may ask how did you come to this point? I just said to myself, people are going to secretly judge you, and judge you for just being.. But if you are a believer, you know that only God can. (Luke 6:37, Matthew 7:1-5)
I made the conscience effort to say, " I don't care who says what, my supporters need to hear me, I owe it to them, and I love them because they believed in my dream."
So to those that may have the fear to get up and speak, know that God has your back. All he ask i you take the first step. I felt his presence all around me that day.. That is what made it so easy..
The announcement was my voice. Which is now heard..
For those that showed up, prayed for me, purchased a book, offered words of encouragement.. I say thank you..

Union Dinner
In my opinion, we all have our moments were. We appear to be skeptical of something that we don't know, or the way that we feel about a certain issue. Sometimes, we attempt to influence others, that our opinion is the right opinion. Without giving that party an opportunity to find the truth for themselves. We as a people in general, tend to have similarities yet through our ethnic backgrounds and beliefs, still yet evident there is an element of seperation.
I am so blessed that my mother taught me that having an open mind was imperative, that I may see with my own eyes the vast range of diversity that was among us. In retrospects, I had my inquiries; but I remained curious, therefore in order to get the answer. I asked many of questions. I was blessed to sit down and have dinner tonight with a couple that had crossed my path. When I was first asked I was a bit skeptical. With that said I prayed about this dinner. Through that prayer I was lead to go and not be in fear. Although this couple appeared harmless. It was an opportunity to meet and have dinner. We talked about their culture, and religion. As we sat down for dinner at the table. While in conversation, I politely interrupted the couple and asked them, "can I pray over the food." As I did this through silent prayer. The wife said, "Oh can you pray aloud".. At that point we joined hands, as I prayed over our dinner. This was my first encouter of having dinner with this couple so I was unsure of the invitation of prayer until we began to join hands and their interests in God was just as great as mines. At the end of the night, I learned how to read Arabic, I also learned that this couple had been through a trying time to get to the states. It's so amazing, when you sit down and have a conversation with people, you learn that the only element that may separate you from one another is a simple "hello" from there, the possibility of gaining understanding is presented.. Which offers you an ability to learn something new.. The experience was great and through that opportunity I was blessed to have met them and now I have created some new friends.

2 Down

What a blessing!
I have completed my 2nd magazine interview.. I would like to thank my cousin for the introduction and Gwen Pierce for taking time out of her busy schedule to get a brief story on the new Author.. LOL
This inteview was yet another trademark of the butterfly captured in the heart on my logo. Not sure if you have noticed that are not. Some of you know me, but many of you don't understand and know my thoughts. Ujima was the 1st magazine interview that I conducted that captured this, and as I shared information with Damita, that not only expressed my love for God and my short comings, but how there is possbility in the midst of it all. TheChocolateVoice interview I revealed a little more.
Resolution + The art of possibility = (you fill in the blank.)
2009 was a great year, I learned alot, and actually saw the fruits of my labor. I have also learned that diligence, ice cream, connecting with God, and just stopping to smell the roses, is something that makes me very happy. Thus I will press on and continue to keep these elements very near to me.
I would like to take this time, to thank each and every one of you that are reading this.. In some way shape or form, you have impacted my life in such a way that proves to me, that God has placed angels all around me. It's a feeling I can't explain and a love that I have never experienced before..
I will humbly accept it and share it with others.
In conclusion, my article is available to see on www.thechocolatevoice.com.
Blessings and Happy New Year!

In my soul

You are in my soul..
Your like my favorite song..
The one that I hear when my days are long..
And when I hear it, my heart skips a beat..
My toes began to wiggle, My feet starts to tapping..
My head starts bobbing, my hand do the clapping.
You are in my soul..
Your my ears when I can't hear..
You are like my radar, and you let me know when danger may be, really close and near..
My sensor, when I get lost.. My intuitive mind streak.. My peripheral vision, when my heart gets weak..
You are my soul...
Your my eyes when I can't see..
When I think that something ain't right..
You see through the fog and you protect me..
You have the arms of a quarterback.. Speed of a jet...
Heart of angel filled with love... and the peaceful spirit just like a dove..
You are my soul..
My soul. I say..
When I am not around you..
My heart seems to need your touch..
The caress of your voice, the look in your eyes, the laughter that we share.. The grace of your style..
I can see you in my mind running.. I will not run after you..
When the sky turns gray.. Together we see blue..
You are my soul..
And we are connected as such.. You are the lock and I am the key.. Peanut butter
and strawberry jelly...
Because you are in my soul..
You
Are
My
soul

The Recipe
Ok, so I posted a status update about a poem that I wanted to write, and many topics were suggested.. So here it is.. Enjoy..
Thanks FB Fam....LOL..
If my memory serves me correctly.
It was a full moon when we met.
Gazing at the stars...watching the sunset..
We took long walks on the lake, watching other couples stare.. They have no idea. How long it took fo us to get there.
I've felt love before, but not like this.. I've allowed myself to let go, and ended up in a relationships
with a twists.
But you..
You allowed me to show my natural side. Nappy hair, specs, blue jeans, with slides.
You loved me for me, and I can truly appreciate that.. I can't believe you love me, without the weave and tracks.
I embraced me for such a long time.. Staring at the lady in the mirror that I did not want to see..My God I can't believe that you truly love me. I waited for you, single for many years, on the side line. While I watched others, get picked, while I waited in line. I found that what I prayed for, God delivered to me.. All that was required was patient, and I was so blind I couldn't see.
Your love is equivalent to cornbread, with that sweet churn butter.. Ahhhh...
It cooked, but it took some time.
Do you remember when I invited you over for dinner?
I made you that pot of greens. I worked so hard to make it just like grandma taught me.. So I spent many hours just trying to clean..
Them for you, because you deserved nothing but the best.. Baked chicken with a little Ceyene pepper, some honey. Is what I served, under my nest.
If my memory serves me correctly.
It was a full moon when I met you....
I think we talked that first time, until the sky was no longer blue.
At times I smile.. When I am away from you. Just remembering the things that you used to do.
You would listen to me chatter, about all sorts of things. I fully had your attention, that was just one of the ways you loved me..
Hey do you remember when I was broke that time? I made a crock pot of pinto beans.
I had a secret ingredient.. That you couldn't put your finger on..
It was my special tomato paste, love, and chili powder, that made you come back for more.
In being who I am, I loved to cook for you, it was one of the ways, that I expressed my love for you.
I am so glad that, when the moon is full I can always think of you.
So when I think of you, I think about Gumbo.. All that stuff put into one pot.. Results in a spoonful of goodness.
That's my recipe of love..

Happy Birthday
As I posted a memory for today.. Things that I can recall that were always good..
I remember, my mother... She was peaceful, God-fearing, loving, her smile was amazing.. I know that I will be sad at times... However I also can't be.. God blessed me with enough time, to remember her, for the beautiful person that she is. It's funny, as I get older..I am often stopped and asked, " Baby what is your name?" And when I tell them.. They say, " Oh my Lord!".. Yes.. I am Nell's daughter, and some called her Mae. I am a reflection of a wonderful woman..Though I may fall short.. I will never be perfect.. I learn each day, to progress in the positive, and stray from the negative.. Tomorrow is not promised.. I am humbled and so grateful for the blessings that are coming my way and those that I have recieved.. My grandmother and grandfather blessed me with 2 amazing individuals that I will always have love for, and that I will never forget.. Now my grandpa.. WOW! That is a totally different blog.. I love him so much and I am thankful for him always.. Mom, if I had a couple of words to say to. I would say, " Thank you, sometimes my tears, are the tears of a child who was 10 that lost her mother, and she misses her deeply, I will never forget you and I know that one day I will soon see you.. You have taught me to love no matter what, and to be kind to others, for this I am grateful.. You live through me, and I am blessed that I had the opportunity to know you for the great mother that you are.. I love you and Happy birthday.. In addition to Aunt Debra.. who is no longer with us, which is my mother's sister, her birthday will be on the
23rd.. Happy Birthday Auntie.. Thank you for teaching me how to stand up for myself.. LOL>.
And mom, "I know you know what I did with the peas"

Happy 1 Year Anniversary, " Chronicles Of A Mended Heart"
Howdy doody readers,
The opportunity has presented itself once again to share with you more happy moments..
As I embark on my book's 1st anniversary, birthday, celebration, whatever you want to call it. It's a blessing to me..
This is a major time to reflect on all the hard work, tears, sweat, thoughts, prayers and support that I have recieved.. I can rememeber when I first begin to write poetry and my readers would say, " Shametra you should put this in book form." I am so grateful for the seed that has been planted.. There were times that I wanted to give up and say ok, it's taking to much to meet these deadlines, and to do this and that.. However after it was all said and done. I gave birth to a beautiful book that I consider "my baby." You have no idea of the butterflies I have in my stomach as I work on this 2nd book. I am allowing myself to have lot's of me time, to collate my thoughts into book form. I have completed some chapters, but I am still working on it. One thing that I have realized is that God has been working on me.. I am so used to the I want it now, and I work to get what I want NOW!.. Some call it "the only child's syndrome." I call it the, " Go Getter" , others may call it " Persistance", However Patient is what our father says.. I have actually slowed down, and really given some thoughts on what I would like to say next in this 2nd book. I have come up with a title. Two different ones for that matter. But this time around, as I did before. I will pray for guidance, and ask the father, what he would like me to say.. Shametra has an idea, but sometimes, It's not always about me.. If you determine the correlation between what God wants you to do, and what you want to do.. You will find, that it's not always about you.. Many times in my journey, I have prayed for certain things in my life and neglected to follow suite as I have prayed... I had to put myself in a position to be blessed.. Extracting those very things that caused me to be less productive and more distracted.. There is no personal attack on these things, people, places per say.. It just means that this season may be over.. and that the love that I share for these items listed above remains unconditional.
I am just about the Lord's business. As seasons change, I became closer to God, family, my jourals.. The words that turned into paragraphs, were amazing.. I knew it when I first saw it.. That unconsciously it was a deep desire to work on my 2nd book... I have realized after years of reading other authors I have been influenced by Shel Silverstein, : Where the SideWalk Ends", Nikki Giovanni" Love Poems", Ken Blanchard " Gung Ho", and "Whale Done", and JacQueline Jakes, " Trophy Women" and many others.. If your eyes are posted to this blog and your ears are up.. I have indirectly informed you in which direction that I am going for the 2nd book. LOL. Other than that you will have to wait and see..
As I approach my book's 1st anniversary, I have one word that sums it all up, " Grateful"
In conclusion I would like to take this time to say thank you to those that supported me, whether it be purchasing a book, praying for me, interviewing me, offering words of encouragement.. Meeting for coffee to discuss the book or how to pursue your own. LOL.. Yes we had some fun times..
I thank you a million times, and give you a bunch of hugs for your love and support..
Tootles for now....

Vacation week
Well, well, well,
Howdy fellow readers. I've had a pretty busy week since I was on vacation.
For the first 2 days, I had some me time, yep I actually laid on the couch and watched television, and spent some extra time with my dogie.
After Wednesday, the good times were rolling.
I received an email from a friend regarding a volunteer opportunity for the Capital Area Food Bank. So I signed myself up for 4 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday. I also participated in the event (2 days) that was being held all week "Thread gills" and Friday, ( drum roll, please) I went to speak with 5Th graders at an East Austin elementary school.
Out of everything that I did this week. I would have to say that Friday was the best.
You know? It was such an honor when a friend called to invite me to speak to a 5Th grade class.
The children read me some of their poetry , I mean you think I write deep, you ain't seen nothing yet. These children's words were encouraging, yet they managed to express their thoughts.. You had to be there to hear it. I was blown away and so excited.
I had the opportunity to share some of my poetry with them from my most recent book, and I also shared my story with them. I am from East Austin, yep born and raised.. It was such a blessing to return, and offer a blessing to these children by reaching back into my community, in which I was born and raised.
As I look back, I can recall, every single person in my life, that has made a difference, that had an impact on my life in a positive way, and influenced me to do the right things. I plan to return, for so many reasons, my top 2 would be.
To hear some more poetry and to just be in the children's presence..
I was amazed of the art work as I walked through the halls.
I was also introduced to the art teacher, that influenced the children to draw beautiful pictures of flowers, that were inspired by a book called, " One Hundred Flowers" By:Georgia O' Keeffe. ( I want this book, I had the chance to flip through some pages, and it's totally awesome)
The week was great, alot of relaxation, and me time, and some fun in the sun..
And last but not least Thursday I had the opportunity to see, " Let Me Down Easy" Starring Anna Deavere Smith.. All I can say is WOW! The smooth transition from scene to scene was genius, Mrs. Smith delivered a great monologue, that kept our eyes glued to her, to see what she would do next.
Well my fellow readers, it's time to get some shut eye and prepare for the week..
See ya next time..

If I can sum up my week with one song it would be, " Tomorrow" by: Quincy Jones, featuring Tevin Campbell
Let's see

The alternative to "Texas Relays"
WOW! What a great weekend!
Instead of being in unstoppable traffic. I connected with my cousin this weekend to have a great time, were we volunteered at a local event, that has taken Austin by storm.
We definitely, were exhausted with the heat, but the music and the surroundings of entrepreneurs filled our spirits with a taste of lush appreciation of what Austin has to offer.
We met and greeted with faces unknown and even saw some old school favorites.
In the line up were Sugarhill gang, Boys II Men and Cameo (yep they are still around) still bringing that funk, that your momma or father used to listen to, while cleaning up the house on a Saturday morning.
I have not seen Boys II Men since their last visit to Austin at the Frank Erwin Center, I can not recall exactly what year it was. I was in my early twenties.
They still have their swagger.
Not to mention, the day was full of cardio that was well deserved. And I am sure my body is thanking me for it.
I purchased some goodies from fashionique and Toombas.. (Thanks ladies)
If you have never heard of these fashion divas google them.. I am sure that your time will be spent wisely.

In the Midst ( I'm coming through)
In the Midst ( I'm coming through)
A portion of
Constant dark skies.
An image of
Rainy days
Loved unconditionally.
My wing is trying to mend, from all
the pain and agony
love continues to follow in my trail
AND
I wreak of something, that draw others close to me
when I really, want to
be
in my shell.
Their testimonies.
Give me hope.
Because
Iron sharpens Iron
Love is on my trail
and it won't leave me a-lone
So I am only allowed to see a glimpse
of A portion of constant dark skies.
An image of rainy days.
I feel weak and shattered,
broken, yet restored
Challenged, yet blessed
Through
It all, his love
continues to live in my spirit.
I was reminded, that your love is in me.

"A New Beginning"
Do you remember the movie with Morgan Freeman, " Lean on me?"
He was a father to those that did not have a father.
An educator, of great things.
Yet to others placid.
Strength and Encouragement.
Is this what we search for as a people?
The head of state.
I giggle because
today
is
a
new day.
Transcending.
God
has risen
in us
We
are
the people
that rise
as a people.
We sour like eagles..
We strive for world peace..
We love everyone, ourselves and thy enemies.
We are people..
Today is
a New
Day..
We've come
together
To make a change
Congrats to United States president.
Barack Obama
And to our ancestors.
We walk a million and one more foot-steps for you.
Today is a new-beginning

What's your favorite love story?
I love to watch love stories, I think that I have seen them all. However I know there is more to watch.
My perception of a great love story is when two people at the end are getting married, or they find some reason to work out their differences.
One of my favorite stories is " Why did I get married." Tyler Perry definitely nails it in this film.. It screams, love, compromise, trust and sacrifice..
Which, is what I have heard so far about being married.
I can't tell ya nothing yet..
At times outsiders may never know the compelling reason that keeps two people in love..
So what's your favorite love story??

"Many Rivers To Cross"
So, valentine eve, I was watching one of the greatest movies of all times.
As many times as I have watched it, I never actually watched it to the very end to hear this song..
It's a purifier.. almost.
Instantly you feel refreshed, just by the first verse, and then you are hooked.
I am stil trying to collect my thoughts of what Oleta Adams, was singing about.
But as I stated, my favorite part is the first verse.. I believe that we do in deed have many rivers to cross..
(thinking of) "Many rivers to cross" : Sung by Oleta Adams.
Enjoy

The one I gave my heart to
I emerge from a shell, of pure beauty.
And God..
Put his hands around me, and said, " Take my hand?", " Child, take my hand?"
I answered, " Lord I am scared, so much has happened to me, and I don't know were to start.."
He said, " if you just put your trust in me, I will protect you."
I said Lord, " I'm tired of running, and my feet hurt, it's been a long time, since I've felt invited in your house." " I mean I'm not perfect, we all make choices, but why are you offering me a 2nd chance?"
He said, ' my child, when I made you, I created a blessing."
I said, " Lord they see me in you..
He said, "I made you to shine, just like my son."
I looked in his eyes.....
I said, " Lord they talk about me, they point fingers at me, I try to love them anyway.
He said, "my child, they persecuted me ,they will do the same to you, stand firm, and humble your spirit, and follow me."
I
then
took his hand, and surrendered to him."
,
and now I have
eternal life and his unconditional love.
